Welcome!

Welcome to our little blog!

Just a little bit about us...

My husband Alex and I are recent college grads and newlyweds as of November 23, 2013. This blog is just a place where we can post recipes, workouts, encouragement, and struggles as we start our marriage. We are welcome to advice, questions, and stories from other diabetics out there!

My husband is a type 1 diabetic (this means his pancreas makes absolutely ZERO insulin- sad, I know). His pancreas was attacked by the chicken pox virus when he was 8 years old- he was a little blonde Michelin man, so his pancreas was already weak. Luckily, he is completely dedicated to health and fitness, so his A1C levels have always been normal. However, that doesn't mean that maintaining steady glucose levels is not an everyday job. Speaking of jobs, he is currently a technician for a physical therapist as he pursues his degree as a Doctor of Physical Therapy.

I am also a technician for a physical therapy clinic as well as a puppy mom. I met Alex in an exercise physiology course in college- we share the same passion for exercise and overall health. As a woman with many health problems, it was important to me to know how the body functions. While I certainly don't have all the answers, it helps to have a health related background when faced with constant aches and pains. Maintaining a healthy- gluten intolerant- diet and  practicing regular exercise has kept my flare ups of pain at bay. Lucky for us, my two favorite places are the gym and the kitchen.

Hope you stop by again next time as we add more semi-interesting posts! You can guarantee this blog will be like a box of chocolates... There's no tellin' what you're gonna get!

Here's a picture of our massive puppy child.
